Respecting the national flag is a crucial aspect of patriotism in the UAE, and to honor its significance, the UAE Government has issued guidelines to ensure its proper treatment and display. Since its first hoisting by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan on December 2, 1971, the UAE flag has symbolized national unity, achievements, and aspirations. Show your respect for the UAE flag and ollow these 9 rules for proper flag etiquette:

1. Do not add symbols or designs

Only the original UAE flag design should be used. Avoid adding logos, images, or decorations that alter its appearance.

2. Avoid using the flag as decoration

Using the flag for decorative purposes, such as on clothing or costumes, is discouraged, as it compromises the flag's original respect.

3. No additional adornments

Refrain from attaching pins, badges, or any additional elements to the flag. It should be flown in its unaltered, authentic form.

4. Do not print on disposable items

Printing the flag on items like table napkins, boxes, or any disposable materials is not allowed, as it can lead to unintentional disrespect.

5. Avoid wrapping the flag around objects

The flag should never be wrapped around any object or form. Its purpose is to fly freely, symbolizing the UAE’s sovereignty.

6. Not to be used as a cover

The state flag should not be used as a cover for buildings, vehicles, or any other objects. Such uses can be perceived as disrespectful.

7. No commercial use

The UAE flag is not permitted for use in advertising, commercial trademarks, or promotions, as these uses detract from its sanctity.

8. Respect color specifications

For commercial use, ensure colors match official guidelines. Variations of the flag’s colors are not acceptable.

9. Do not attach elements to the flag
