According to the UAE Public Prosecution, swearing at a public employee will result in a hefty fine. The authorities have stated that libel against a person performing a public service on the occasion of or as a result of their job would be punished severely. The regulation is specified under Article 43 of Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2021, combating Rumors and Cybercrime. The penalty will be a fine ranging from Dh250,000 to Dh500,000.
