The Ministry of Health and Prevention is set to test 50,000 UAE residents for hypertension as part of the National Campaign for Early Detection of Hypertension. The mass tests will be done in May and June at government and private health institutions, universities, Life pharmacies, Emirates Cardiac Society, Omron and Servier. The campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of checking blood pressure, adopting healthy lifestyles, and understanding the causes and complications of hypertension. Dr. Buthaina Abdullah Bin Balila, Head of the Non-Communicable Disease Department at the ministry, said the campaign will offer free blood pressure screening services, during which basic demographic and clinical information and blood pressure measurements will be collected by nurses, trained volunteers, and a network of pharmacies in the country. UAE authorities aim to decrease the number of residents affected by high blood pressure to 30 percent by 2030 as part of the national health initiative.
