Healthcare workers in the UAE have set a new world record in a show of unity and national pride. Frontline staff from Burjeel Holdings achieved a Guinness World Records title for the “Most Nationalities Carrying a Banner,” bringing together participants from 64 nationalities at Hudayriyat Island on Saturday (April 11). The event took place during the closing ceremony of the Burjeel Games, held in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council. A total of 153 participants carried a giant UAE flag measuring 85 metres and weighing over 200kg, walking 100 metres together to break the previous record of 58 nationalities. Despite rainy weather earlier in the day, participants gathered in large numbers, highlighting the strong community spirit. Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Chairman and CEO of Burjeel Holdings, said the event reflected the UAE’s unity. “We are proud to be part of a nation that brings together so many cultures under one vision,” he said. “This moment reflects that same spirit, a collective expression of unity from people who call this country home,” he added. The record attempt was verified on-site by an official adjudicator, who confirmed its success.
