UAE household workers prohibited from outdoor meetings

DUBAI – Household workers in the UAE are prohibited from meeting anyone outdoor as part of precautionary measures against Covid-19. The UAE government has partially relaxed restrictions during Ramadan in the country, but measures are still in place to prevent the spread of coronavirus. With home deliveries expected to spike during Ramadan, domestic helpers are not allowed to receive food from an unknown source and must be advised on precautions in the event of receiving parcels or goods from delivery services, said Dr. Amna Al Shamsi, spokesperson for the UAE Government, in a media briefing on Saturday (April 25). “Food should not be exchanged between residents of different homes. In the event that food is received from relatives or friends in the vicinity of one’s home, the appropriate handling of food in disposable sealed bowls must be ensured," Al Shamsi said. Al Shamsi said that household workers must be “provided with the necessary protective equipment should they need to interact with people from outside”. "On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, the UAE has been keen to partially relax restrictions on movement while ensuring that all people continue to abide by the relevant prevention guidelines and instructions,” Al Shamsi said.

First and second degree relatives may visit

The new measures also include allowing first and second degree relatives to visit while avoiding inviting those susceptible to infection, including the elderly and people with chronic diseases.

Maximum of 5 people in a group

“The number of people present in a place at any one time may not exceed five individuals," Al Shamsi said.

Up to 2 hours of exercise

"Exercise should take place near one’s home for up to two hours, with a maximum of three people at any one time. ICA/Expat Media https://www.expatmedia.net/new-dubai-covid-19-rules-going-3-hour-mall-visits/2020/04/ https://www.expatmedia.net/dubai-mall-covid-new-rules/2020/04/
