The UAEV, the UAE's first government-owned electric vehicle (EV) charging network, announced that new tariffs for EV charging will take effect in January 2025. Sharif Al Olama, Chairman of UAEV, called the tariffs a pivotal step toward sustainable transportation. “This reflects our commitment to operational excellence and a cleaner future,” he said. The tariffs will standardize costs across the network, with DC chargers priced at Dh1.2/kWh + VAT and AC chargers at Dh0.7/kWh + VAT. This move ensures fair pricing while supporting UAE’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy. To complement the tariffs, UAEV is launching a mobile app with features such as station navigation and live updates, alongside a 24/7 support center for EV drivers. By 2030, UAEV aims to install 1,000 chargers across the emirates, enhancing accessibility for both urban and highway users. ICA/Expat Media
