The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) has fined 45 domestic worker recruitment agencies Dh50,000 for operating without a license. According to MOHRE, the recruitment agencies were flagged from 2022 to date. Among the number of violators are four agencies based in Al Ain that were fined two weeks ago. "MoHRE has taken legal action against the four establishments, including referring them to the Public Prosecution and imposing administrative fines of Dh50,000 on their owners. The establishments had been closed with the Department of Economic Development placing closure signs on their doors,” according to MOHRE in a statement on Sunday (October 15). MOHRE said the domestic workers under the violating agencies were given temporary accommodation. “Procedures have been initiated to transfer them – upon their willingness – to MoHRE-approved domestic worker recruitment establishments,” MOHRE added. The authority cautioned the public against dealing with unlicensed recruitment and domestic worker recruitment establishments and urged jobseekers check mohre.gov.ae for a list of authorised offices. It also urged the public to report illegal recruiters via the hotline 600590000. "The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation implements joint inspection campaigns, in collaboration with its partners, relying on proactive monitoring, reports from members of the community, and regular inspection visits to ensure that any recruitment activity is carried out exclusively by authorised domestic worker recruitment agencies,” MOHRE said.
