UAE increases fine for private firms failing to meet new Emiratisation targets in 2023
UAE authorities announced that the fine for failing to reach this year's Emiratisation targets would be increased. Dr Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, stated at a press conference on Thursday that the annual punishment will be Dh84,000, up from Dh72,000 for failing to fulfill last year's targets. Companies with 50 or more skilled personnel must have 4% Emiratis on their payroll by the end of 2023. Companies would face a Dh84,000 penalty for every Emirati who is not hired. On Wednesday, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) stated that it had imposed Dh400 million fines on private enterprises that had failed to achieve Emiratisation standards for 2022. About 9,293 companies achieved their target for 2022 — to have 2 percent Emiratis in skilled roles.
