UAE increases fee for transit visa for travelers

The UAE Immigration has increased the cost of a 96-hour transit visa for travelers, visa-services specialist VFS Global confirmed in a recent statement. According to VFS Global, the fee increase for 96-hour transit visas is “effective immediately”. This means that the regular transit visa will now cost Dh218.78 ($59.57) instead of Dh148.93 ($40.55). The price of the express 96-hour transit visa will also increase to Dh307.22 ($83.65). Citizens of certain countries will also need to pay a security deposit, which will be refunded to them when they exit the UAE. The security deposit is $272.5 (Dh1,000.80) and is subject to taxes. The visa fee is calculated automatically in the system based on the visa category and the applicant’s country of residence. Applicants will need to submit a clear and coloured copy of the front page and last page of their passport, which must also be valid for at least six months; a coloured photograph; proof of residence; valid visa or evidence of travel to UAE, UK, US, Schengen countries, Australia, New Zealand or Canada in the last five years; or documents showing they have investments or annual income worth at least $8,000. The transit visa will be issued within 3 to 4 working days and will be valid for 30 days from the date of issuance. The duration of stay is limited to 96 hours from the time of entry to the UAE.
