 Emirati families earning below Dh25,000 per month will receive targeted inflation allowances under the UAE’s updated Social Support Programme, Minister of Community Development Shamma Al Mazrui announced. The programme, restructured in 2022, provides support based on family status and includes financial assistance for food, fuel, electricity, and water. “These inflation allowances reflect the UAE’s commitment to maintaining the dignity and quality of life for low-income families,” Al Mazrui said. For families below the income threshold, allowances include: • Food: Dh500 for the primary beneficiary, Dh500 for an Emirati spouse, and Dh250 per child under 21 (up to four children). • Fuel: Allowances range from Dh300 to Dh900 depending on fuel prices, with support granted to the primary beneficiary and one Emirati spouse. • Utilities: Dh400 or equivalent to the household’s consumption (whichever is lower) is granted for electricity and water per residence. The support also extends to retirees and working Emiratis. For retirees over 60, the breadwinner allowance has been increased from Dh5,000 to Dh13,000. A new “Working/Retired” category has been introduced, with support increasing by Dh2,000 for every 10 years of work, up to a maximum of Dh13,000. Additional benefits include: • Spousal support: Dh3,500 • Child support: Dh2,400 for the first child; Dh1,600 each for the second and third child; Dh800 for the fourth child onward • Children of determination: Dh5,000, not included in the child count Al Mazrui emphasized that the initiative aims to ensure “a dignified standard of living for every Emirati household,” while also adapting to evolving economic conditions.
