The UAE successfully intercepted missiles and drones launched from Iran on Sunday morning (March 15),  a day after Tehran issued a warning for the first time to neighbouring non-US assets. Iran had called for the evacuation of three major UAE ports, escalating regional tensions, saying it will be targeting US assets "hiding there". In a statement on X, the Ministry of Defense said: “The UAE air defences are currently dealing with missile and drone attacks coming from Iran. The Ministry of Defense confirms that the sounds heard in various parts of the country are the result of air defense systems intercepting ballistic missiles, and fighter jets intercepting drones and cruisers.” The Dubai Media Office also confirmed on X that residents in the Marina and Al Sufouh areas may have heard loud sounds caused by successful air defence interceptions. “Dubai authorities confirm that the sounds heard in Marina and Al Sufouh areas resulted from successful air defence interceptions,” the statement said. The Ministry of Defense reassured the public that the UAE remains fully prepared to respond to any threats. Officials emphasized that all necessary measures are in place to protect the nation’s sovereignty, security, and national capabilities. Authorities urged residents to rely only on official sources for information and avoid spreading rumours or unverified content online, warning that misinformation could cause unnecessary public concern.
