The UAE has introduced stringent traffic laws imposing severe penalties, including fines up to Dh100,000 and imprisonment, for major traffic violations. The new regulations aim to enhance road safety and deter reckless behavior. Key violations and their corresponding penalties include: • Crossing roads outside designated pedestrian areas resulting in an accident: Punishable by a fine between Dh5,000 and Dh10,000 and/or imprisonment. • Crossing roads with speed limits of 80 km/h or higher outside designated areas: Minimum of 3 months in jail and a fine of at least Dh10,000. • Causing death due to vehicle misuse: Fine of at least Dh50,000 and/or imprisonment. • Causing fatal accidents by jumping a red light, driving under the influence, or driving with a suspended/canceled license: Imprisonment for a minimum of one year and a fine of at least Dh100,000. • Failing to stop after an accident resulting in injuries without a valid excuse: Imprisonment for up to 1 year and a fine between Dh50,000 and Dh100,000. • Withholding information about an accident or its perpetrator, fleeing from police, or intentionally colliding with police, military, or security vehicles during duty: Similar penalties apply. • Refusing to provide name, address, or providing false information to traffic officers: Imprisonment for up to 3 months and a fine between Dh10,000 and Dh20,000.
