The Ministry of Interior has issued detailed safety guidelines for decorating vehicles during the UAE’s 54th Union Day celebrations, reminding motorists that only approved practices will be allowed and warning that violations will result in fines and possible vehicle impoundment. “Violations will result in fines and the impoundment of non-compliant vehicles. Your commitment brings us joy and your safety is our priority,” the ministry said in a statement. According to the advisory, motorists are only permitted to place Union Day-related stickers on their vehicles and display the UAE national flag. Any other decoration or modification that could jeopardise safety or disrupt traffic is strictly prohibited. Authorities said unorganised parades and random gatherings will not be allowed. Drivers must not block or disrupt traffic or perform stunt driving or dangerous manoeuvres. Leaning out of windows or sunroofs has also been banned, along with overloading vehicles beyond approved capacity. Motorists are prohibited from covering their windshields or licence plates and from using loudspeakers, sirens or horns in inappropriate ways. Displaying non-official posters or banners, raising flags of other countries, and wearing head masks or costumes while driving are also not allowed. The ministry added that playing loud music will only be permitted in designated celebration areas. Officials said the measures aim to maintain order on the roads while ensuring residents and visitors can celebrate safely. The ministry urged the public to cooperate with traffic officers, avoid risky behaviour and uphold the values of respect and responsibility during national festivities. ICA/Expat Media
