Job exploration visa can reduce employment opportunities

A Federal National Council (FNC) member has urged the UAE government to reconsider the job exploration visa since it may reduce the employment opportunities of Emiratis. On Wednesday (January 22), FNC member Obaid Khalifan Al-Ghoul Al Salami suggested that the government should review its decision for the job exploration visa as it may limit opportunities for skilled UAE nationals, which will have an impact on Emiratisation rates, particularly in the private sector. “This job exploration visa will increase the number of expatriate workers in the country and the continuation of the process of remitting huge amounts of money from the UAE to other nations instead of being recycled inside the country,” Al Salami said. The rise may hamper the efforts to increase Emiratisation rates in the country's essential industries in the number of Emirati graduates looking for employment. As a result, the Federal Authority for Identification and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) must ensure that the government's efforts to increase the Emiratisation rates in the private sector do not encounter any difficulties as a result of this job exploration visa. The job exploration visa is part of the broad reforms introduced by the UAE Cabinet that took effect in October 2022. According to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), people classified in the first, second, or third skill level are eligible. New graduates from the top 500 universities worldwide are also eligible to apply. However, they must have a bachelor's degree or its equivalent as their minimum educational level. KD/Expat Media
