The UAE is now a member of the Global Biofuel Alliance, which shows the country’s dedication to clean energy and efforts to decrease carbon emissions, said Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail bin Mohammed Al-Mazrouei. The Global Biofuel Alliance formed by India, the United Kingdom and the United States aims to accelerate the adoption of eco-friendly biofuels in alignment with the worldwide transition to renewable energy. During the 14th Clean Energy Ministerial and 8th Mission Innovation Meeting in India, Al-Mazrouei said the UAE will gain substantial advantages from becoming a member of the Global Biofuel Alliance. These benefits comprise access to technical knowledge, support, chances to exchange best practices and the opportunity to establish fruitful partnerships with other members of the alliance. He added that the UAE has dedicated significant investments to biofuels as part of its goal to diversify its energy sources and reduce its carbon emissions. He also emphasized the establishment of various waste-to-energy facilities in the country. These facilities, which are either already running or being constructed, are essential for producing clean energy, minimizing emissions and diverting waste away from landfills. The minister communicated the same objectives for COP28 that the UAE had during the G20 Energy Transitions Ministerial Meeting. The UAE Minister highlighted during the G20 Energy Transitions Ministerial Meeting that as the host of COP28, the UAE's presidency will give priority to driving the global transition towards sustainable energy. The UAE intends to work together with all stakeholders to substantially enhance renewable energy generation and the production of hydrogen by 2030, aiming to triple renewables and double hydrogen capacity. The minister indicated that the focus being given is in line with the global objective of reaching a 43 percent decrease in emissions by 2030, as outlined in the goals of the Paris Agreement. He stressed the importance of making progress towards a worldwide hydrogen economy as part of the global climate agenda. He went on to elaborate on the goals and purposes of the UAE's recently implemented National Hydrogen Strategy. Al-Mazrouei outlined that the goal of the National Hydrogen Strategy is to produce 1.4 million tons of eco-friendly hydrogen every year by 2031, with 71.4 percent of it being green hydrogen. The strategy aims to increase production to 15 million tons annually by 2050. During the minister's three-day visit to India, both countries announced their mutual commitment to enhancing bilateral ties and addressing common goals related to clean energy and reducing climate change impacts.
