The UAE has launched a 180-day multiple-entry visa for individuals applying for the prestigious Blue Residency, a long-term visa aimed at recognizing global leaders in environmental sustainability, climate action, and clean energy innovation. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) announced that the new visa will allow eligible candidates from outside the UAE to enter the country multiple times within a 180-day window to complete their Blue Residency application process. The Blue Residency offers a 10-year residency for individuals with exceptional achievements and contributions to environmental fields. Eligible categories include: • Influencers and thought leaders in sustainability and climate change • Scientists and researchers with global impact (endorsed by the UAE Scientists Council) • Entrepreneurs and investors in green industries • Professionals in environmental organizations operating in the UAE The application process for the entry visa and Blue Residency can be completed online through the UAEICP website or mobile app. It involves four key steps: 1. Filling out personal and application details 2. Uploading supporting documents (passport, recent photo, proof of eligibility) 3. Paying the required fees 4. Receiving confirmation via email The application process takes about seven minutes, and final processing, if requirements are met, is completed within one working day. This visa initiative is part of the UAE’s larger strategy to support sustainability and position itself as a global hub for green innovation. During the World Government Summit in February, the UAE granted the first batch of Blue Residencies to 20 sustainability pioneers. According to the ICP, “This step reflects our commitment to facilitating procedures for global talents in sustainability and ensuring continuous support for national environmental initiatives.” The Blue Residency complements the UAE’s Golden and Green residency systems, creating a comprehensive framework for attracting top talent in priority sectors.
