Inciting people to disobey UAE laws will be punishable with a fine of up to Dh500,000 and jail time, the UAE Public Prosecution said in a fresh reminder to residents. In a post on Saturday (June 22), the Public Prosecution cited a federal decree law on cybercrimes that says that the crime is punishable with jail time and a fine of not less than Dh100,000. This applies to internet posts and comments inciting others to disobey laws. “Whoever calls for, or incites by publishing information on computer network or a means of information technology to disobedience of legislation in force in the state, shall be sentenced to detention and, or a fine ranging between Dh100,000 and Dh500,000,” the federal decree law states.
