Visit visa holders who have overstayed their visa must obtain an exit permit before leaving the country, according to UAE law. The directive, implemented by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP), ensures proper documentation of overstayers and a smooth exit process. Under the regulation, visitors who exceed their visa validity must secure an exit permit from the relevant airport, border, or immigration office before departure. The exit permit comes with a fee of Dh200, and additional fines may apply depending on the length of the overstay. A spokesperson for the ICP clarified: “This regulation is designed to improve border control processes and ensure all departures are legally documented. We urge all visitors to check their visa validity and comply with UAE laws.” A fine of Dh50 will also be applied for each day that the visitor has overstayed in the UAE.
