Special investigating team from Abu Dhabi to go to Ohio to help in probe

  OHIO – A 26-year-old Emirati student shot dead in the US will be buried in the UAE on Friday (December 9). This, as a special team was created by the Abu Dhabi police department to go to the US and assist US investigators in looking into the fatal shooting of Saif Nasser Mubarak Al Ameri, who was on a scholarship at the Case Western Reserve University where he was taking up a masteral course. Al Ameri was killed by a policeman after a car chase on Sunday. Al Ameri's body has been brought back to the UAE and prayers for him are scheduled at the Rawashed mosque in Bani Yas on Friday (December 9). Al Ameri will be buried at the Bani Yas cemetery thereafter. Imvestigation showed that Al Ameri was speeding on the Ohio Turnpike near Hudson City proper when his car clipped another vehicle which caused it to overturn. Ohio State Patrol troopers and a Hudson City policeman responded to the accident and chased Al Ameri. When the responding law enforcers caught up with Al Ameri, an altercation occurred and the unidentified Hudson City policeman shot Al Ameri, hitting the latter in the head. The policeman is on administrative lead pending the conduct of investigation on the incident. Meanwhile, the Abu Dhabi police department, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, has dispatched a team to help US investigators looking into the fatal shooting incident. Saif's father, Nasser Al Ameri, said in an interview that he and his family are shocked by the incident. "Everyone knows that my son was an example of decency, ethics and commitment, and never known for any bad driving as claimed by the Ohio Police report," Nasser said. Saif finished law at the UAE University and earned a scholarship grant from the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) to take up a masteral course at the Case Western Reserve University.
