The Lawyers Disciplinary Council of Abu Dhabi's Judicial Department has revoked a lawyer's license and removed his name from the Roster of Lawyers for violating the ethical standards, cultural norms, and the profession's societal responsibilities. The lawyer also faced allegations that led to punitive actions from the Lawyers Disciplinary Council. The lawyer was convicted in criminal court for assaulting, insulting, and threatening an employee during his duty. Such behavior blatantly disregards the requirement of maintaining a good reputation, as mandated by the legal profession's regulations. The Lawyers Disciplinary Council stated that upon examining the complaint referred by the Lawyers Affairs Committee, the lawyer's response and relevant documents, it is evident that the violations are based from the lawyer's conviction under penal judgments and disciplinary decisions. This constitutes a violation on the lawyer's code of conduct and professional ethics, directly affecting their reputation. The council emphasized that maintaining a good reputation is an ongoing condition for maintaining a place in the Roster of Lawyers. The Council's ruling highlights that the law governing the legal profession mandates that registered practicing lawyers must exhibit full capacity and uphold a strong reputation. Such lawyers should not have faced convictions by courts or disciplinary actions due to felonies or misdemeanors involving breaches of honor or trust, even if their criminal records have been removed. Given these circumstances and the confirmation of the lawyer's violations through criminal judgments, the Lawyers Disciplinary Council has canceled the lawyer's license and removing their name from the Roster of Lawyers.
