A young man was ordered to repay a woman after scamming her of Dh560,000. The victim sued the man in Abu Dhabi's Family and Civil Administrative Court, requesting her Dh560,000 back. She also demanded Dh100,000 in compensation for the damages she suffered. In her lawsuit, the woman said the defendant lured her online with the promise of a profitable business. The woman believed the proposal after the man said he was in the same company. She sent Dh560,000 to the defendant so he could invest the cash in the said business. The woman was to earn monthly profits from her investment in the business. The woman said she waited for months to get the profits from her investment to no avail. She tried contacting the man to ask for her profits or return her money. She eventually realized the man had scammed her because he didn't invest the money. The woman said he had filed a criminal complaint against the defendant, who was convicted of fraud. The woman demanded cash and compensation for the damages. The Court ordered the defendant to return the woman's Dh560,000 after hearing from all parties. The Court denied the plaintiff's compensation claim, noting that he had already received Dh21,000 in temporary compensation. The defendant will be paying for the plaintiff's legal expenses.
