UAE: Man fined Dh100,000 after disclosing former company's confidential information
A tax agent who revealed sensitive and confidential information about his former company has been sentenced to pay the firm Dh100,000 in restitution. According to court filings, the employee revealed facts about his former employer after resigning, causing the firm to lose many clients. The individual worked as a tax agent for the corporation and revealed information about the company's interest rates. The former employer launched a legal complaint against him, seeking Dh490,000 in restitution for his malicious conduct, which caused material and moral harm to the organization. The firm also stated that the offender had previously been charged in a criminal matter in which he was convicted and punished in absentia by fining him Dh10,000. Following an investigation, the Abu Dhabi Family and Civil Administrative Cases Court issued a judgment directing the employee to pay Dh100,000 in damages to his former employer. The man was also ordered to pay the company's legal fees.
