The Abu Dhabi Court for Family, Civil and Administrative Matters ordered a man to pay Dh100,000 in compensation to another man for the psychological harm he sustained after seeing his wife sitting with the other man alone in a car. The court convicted the defendant and the plaintiff's wife for committing a sin. The incident started when a man saw his wife sitting in a car with a man by himself. He then sued the man and demanded that he be required to pay him Dh200,000 as compensation for the psychological harm he suffered. He also demanded that fees and expenses be imposed upon the defendant. Due to what he witnessed of the defendant and his wife alone in a car, the plaintiff claimed they had "sinned." In their presence, the wife and the defendant were found guilty by the Criminal Court and were each fined Dh10,000. The court determined that the defendant's actions and those of the woman were sinful because it is wrong to be in a vehicle alone with a woman without a legal bond. The wife and the husband received a final and irrevocable verdict, establishing the defendant's guilt and the need for compensation. In addition to experiencing sadness, grief, pain, and psychological harm, the Abu Dhabi Court for Family, Civil, and Administrative Matters found that the plaintiff had also suffered psychological damage that impacted his honor and reputation. To compensate the plaintiff for her losses and cover the defendant's fees and expenses, the court ordered that the defendant pay the plaintiff Dh100,000. BKM/ Expat Media
