A man filed a lawsuit against a clinic after suffering burns from a laser treatment. He sought Dh60,000 in compensation for the damages. According to his claim, the man paid Dh4,725 to the beauty clinic for laser sessions. During the therapy, however, he received burns that caused severe pain. He said that the technicians' errors caused the burns. In his case, the man demanded that the clinic reimburse him for the Dh4,725 he spent on the botched laser treatment and a Dh60,000 compensation for medical, moral, and financial losses. The Al Ain court rejected the man's lawsuit in the first instance because he failed to provide a medical liability committee report, which is required in cases involving medical malpractice. The plaintiff's lawyer admitted in court that his client had not met with the Medical Liability Committee before filing the claim. The man has been ordered to pay the clinic's legal fees.
