The UAE Media Council has summoned an advertiser over a social media post that violated advertising regulations, the authority confirmed on Thursday (September 11). The council said the ad contained unsubstantiated medical and therapeutic claims about a product without approval from the relevant health authority. It also included misleading information that breached professional media standards. Officials stressed that the advertiser had violated the conditions and controls stipulated in the executive regulation governing media, prompting immediate action. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the party in accordance with current laws. In its statement, the UAE Media Council reaffirmed its commitment to regulating digital advertising to protect the public from misleading claims. It urged both individual and corporate advertisers, as well as influencers on digital platforms, to strictly adhere to approved guidelines. “The council will continue monitoring and taking action against non-compliant advertisements to ensure a responsible and reliable media environment,” it said.
