A young driver in Abu Dhabi has been ordered to pay Dh22,850 in traffic fines for driving a car he bought from a woman but failed to transfer ownership to his name. According to court records, the woman filed a complaint against the man after he refused to pay the traffic fines on the car registered to her name. She claimed she sold the vehicle to the defendant, but he failed to transfer the registration to his name. Later, while driving the car, the man committed traffic violations and was fined Dh22,850, but he refused to pay the fines, prompting the woman to drag him to court. In her lawsuit, the woman demanded that the man be forced to transfer ownership of the car to his name. She also requested that the man record all traffic violations against his driver's license. The young man admitted to committing the traffic violations in court. He stated that he put off transferring ownership of the car to his name because his residence visa had expired. After hearing from all parties, the court ordered the man to transfer ownership of the car to his name and to pay all traffic fines. He was also ordered to pay the woman's legal fees.
