The Dubai Police recently released footages of motorists caught in horrific accidents after jumping the red light at busy roads and intersections across the emirate. In separate incidents, an SUV beating the red light collides with a delivery truck, while a sedan zooming through traffic crashes with a white van. A speeding pickup truck was also caught on video crashing into a motorbike delivery driver at the stop light, while another speeds through a pedestrian crossing, nearly running over a cyclist that took a tumble to avoid a crash.

According to Dubai Police, beating the red light or jumping the red light carries a heavy penalty, including a 30-day confiscation of the vehicle, a Dh50,000 fine to claim the impounded vehicle and 12 black points on the driver’s traffic record. UAE police have repeatedly warned drivers against jumping the red light, saying it is one of the major causes of fatal traffic accidents in the country. ICA/Expat Media
