UAE residents can look forward to a four-day long weekend after the official National Day holiday dates for 2025 were announced. The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources confirmed that the 54th Eid Al Etihad holiday for federal government employees will be observed on December 1 (Monday) and December 2 (Tuesday). Work will resume on December 3 (Wednesday). For the private sector, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has announced that December 1 and 2 will be an official paid holiday for all private sector employees. With the UAE’s regular Saturday–Sunday weekend, this gives residents four consecutive days off—from November 29 (Saturday) to December 2 (Tuesday). While UAE National Day is typically marked on December 2 and 3, the dates have been shifted earlier under a new 2025 public holiday law that allows adjustments when needed to create longer weekends. In a statement posted on X, the UAE Media Office said: “The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources announces the 54th Eid Al Etihad holiday for employees of federal ministries and federal entities. The holiday will be on Monday and Tuesday, December 1–2, 2025.” A similar announcement for the private sector is expected soon. The break will be the final public holiday of 2025, but residents won’t have long to wait for the first holiday of 2026, which follows shortly after. ICA/Expat Media
