The UAE Ministry of Interior has issued a new set of safety rules ahead of the country’s 54th Union Day, banning rallies, random street celebrations, and unauthorised vehicle decorations to ensure public safety and smooth traffic flow. The ministry said violators will face legal action, including fines and vehicle impoundment. “Violations will result in fines and the impoundment of non-compliant vehicles. Your commitment brings us joy, and your safety is our priority,” the Ministry said in its advisory.

What is banned this UAE National Day

Authorities prohibited a wide range of activities, including: Unorganised parades or random gatherings Blocking or disrupting traffic Leaning out of windows or sunroofs Overloading vehicles Stunt driving or dangerous manoeuvres Using party spray by drivers, passengers or pedestrians Playing loud music, except in approved celebration zones Covering licence plates or windshields Changing vehicle colours or adding unauthorised modifications Wearing costumes or masks while driving Raising flags of countries other than the UAE Installing non-approved stickers or banners Decoration shops are also required to comply, and may only install the UAE flag or approved Union Day stickers.

Only two decoration types allowed

The Ministry reiterated that the only authorised vehicle decorations are: UAE national flags Official National Day stickers Brigadier Engineer Hussein Ahmed Al Harthi, Chairman of the Federal Traffic Council, emphasised celebrating in a “civilised manner that reflects the UAE’s values.” He urged the public to follow police instructions and avoid risky behaviour, adding that the goal is to maintain safety while allowing residents to enjoy the national occasion responsibly.
