UAE: New Lulu Hypermarket uses robots to deliver food to customers

LuLu Group, a retail giant in the UAE, has established an innovative hypermarket in Sharjah where robots deliver food to consumers. The Abu Dhabi-based company opened a world-class hypermarket in the Bu Tina neighborhood — its 18th in the Emirate and 232nd worldwide. Purple Cloud, based in the United States, created a robot tasked to serve meals to the customers on their tables after they make an order. According to Lulu Group, the first AI-powered robot in the world delivering food in a hypermarket is a new and creative feature in the hot food department. “We are proud to see another great retail addition to our growing circle of iconic stores which is a testimony to the fact that the LuLu Group has continued to expand and invest in the UAE’s future even through the challenging pandemic months,” the CEO of Lulu Group, Saifee Rupawala noted.
