UAE residents can look forward to a four-day weekend in June to celebrate Eid Al Adha, based on astronomical predictions from the Emirates Astronomy Society. According to society chairman Ibrahim Al Jarwan, the crescent moon marking Dhu Al Hijjah is expected to be visible on May 27. This would place the Day of Arafah on Thursday, June 5, and Eid Al Adha on Friday, June 6. The forecast aligns with the UAE’s official holiday calendar, meaning the public holiday could span from Thursday through Sunday—offering a rare four-day weekend. “The crescent will appear at 7:02 am on May 27 and remain visible for 38 minutes after sunset, making its sighting highly likely,” Al Jarwan explained. However, the final dates are subject to moon sighting confirmation by UAE authorities. If the crescent is not seen, Eid could be pushed to Saturday, June 7, shifting the long weekend to Saturday through Tuesday instead. Eid Al Adha is one of the most significant holidays in the Islamic calendar, observed with prayers, feasts, and family gatherings. ICA/Expat Media
