UAE residents returned to work on Monday (June 30) after a long weekend marking Islamic New Year on Friday, June 27. But the next long break may not be far off. The Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday, an official public holiday in the UAE, is expected to fall on Friday, September 5. If confirmed, this would mean another three-day weekend for both public and private sector employees. The final public holidays of the year will be on December 2 and 3, marking UAE National Day celebrations. These fall on a Tuesday and Wednesday. Official announcements will depend on moon sightings, which determine Islamic calendar dates. The UAE Cabinet confirms public holidays annually, and both sectors enjoy equal holiday benefits under the law.
