UAE to observe Ramadan twice in one year
DUBAI – Two Ramadan months in one year in the UAE? It is happening in 2030, an astronomer revealed. The phenomenon last occurred in 1997, said Ibrahim Al Jarwan, a member of the Arab Federation of Space and Astronomy Sciences. Al Jarwan told Gulf News that UAE residents will observe Ramadan twice in the year 2030, first starting on January 5 and the next one starting on December 26. This is possible because every year, the start of Ramadan changes as it is moved back by 11 days, depending on the sighting of the new moon. Al Jarwan said that in 2030, UAE residents will fast for a total of 36 days during Ramadan. After 2030, the next time that the UAE will experience two Ramadan months in one year will be in 2063, Al Jarwan said.
