UAE opens largest field hospital in Turkey to help earthquake victims

The UAE has opened the largest field hospital in Gaziantep, Turkey, to help the victims of the 7.8-magnitude earthquake in Turkey and Syria. The Emirati Relief Field Hospital, the first Level III field hospital in Turkey, has a 40,000 square meter area, 50 beds, four ICU beds, and contributes to local humanitarian relief efforts. After the hospital was equipped, it immediately started its humanitarian mission by taking in victims of the recent earthquake as soon as the medical, technical, and administrative staff arrived. The Emirati team in charge of the field hospital had worked with the Turkish government's official authorities to determine the victims' basic and urgent needs, and they had made considerable efforts to open the facility in a short period. There are many departments at the field hospital, including the front desk, screening, emergency room, surgery, intensive care, dental, x-ray, laboratory, pharmacy, and outpatient areas. Some psychologists are part of the medical staff, who can assist earthquake victims with anxiety, sadness, and post-traumatic illnesses. The field hospital is a level III field per international classification and performs crucial surgery. Saeed Thani Al Dhaheri, UAE Ambassador to Turkey, joined by other Turkey authorities, attended the inauguration of the hospital, which was a part of the "Gallant Knight/2." The Joint Operations Command of the Ministry of Defense started this initiative. Al Dhaheri said that the UAE leadership established the field hospital and exemplified the country's humanitarian approach as outlined by the ninth principle of the Principles of the 50.
