The UAE passport has been ranked the most powerful in the Middle East and 10th strongest globally for 2025, according to the latest Passport Index by tax and immigration advisory firm Nomad Capitalist. With a score of 106.5, the UAE passport outperformed regional counterparts based on factors such as travel freedom, dual citizenship policies, taxation, global perception, and personal freedom. The ranking revealed UAE passport holders can travel to 126 countries without a visa, obtain visas on arrival in 45 countries, and enter 8 others with electronic travel authorisation—allowing access to 179 destinations without a prior visa. The UAE also scored high for its tax benefits. “The country’s zero-income-tax policy continues to attract investors and business owners, contributing 40 points to its overall ranking,” the report stated. The Irish passport secured the top global rank for the first time, while Switzerland, Luxembourg, and Malta followed closely. Greece tied with Switzerland for second place. Meanwhile, passports from countries like Afghanistan, Yemen, and Pakistan were listed at the bottom of the rankings due to limited mobility and low global trust. ICA/Expat Media
