The UAE’s Fuel Price Committee has released the petrol and diesel prices for August 2025, offering a small relief for petrol users and a minor blow for diesel drivers. Starting August 1, petrol prices will see a slight drop of 1 fils per litre, while diesel will jump by 15 fils per litre. Here are the official retail fuel prices for August 2025: • Super 98 petrol: Dh2.69/litre (down from Dh2.70 in July) • Special 95 petrol: Dh2.57/litre (down from Dh2.58) • E-Plus 91 petrol: Dh2.50/litre (down from Dh2.51) • Diesel: Dh2.78/litre (up from Dh2.63) For UAE motorists, the price revision offers modest savings at the pump for petrol users but an increased cost for those relying on diesel-powered vehicles—commonly used in logistics, heavy transport, and some SUVs. The announcement comes a day before the new prices take effect on August 1, and just a month after July saw a slight fuel price increase compared to June.

Why fuel prices matter

Fuel prices in the UAE are adjusted monthly in line with global oil market trends, following the government’s decision to deregulate fuel pricing in 2015. Since then, the UAE Fuel Price Committee revises rates every end of the month. Although changes are typically modest, they can have a ripple effect on transportation and consumer goods. “Stable fuel prices help keep inflation in check by reducing the cost of transporting goods and services,” said a market analyst. Despite global fluctuations, the UAE still ranks among the top 25 countries with the lowest petrol prices, averaging Dh2.58 per litre — a boon for daily commuters, delivery drivers, and logistics operators alike.
