UAE police warn of Dh1,000 fine for illegal parking near mosques

Motorists who illegally park their cars on the road and block traffic near mosques will face a fine of up to Dh1,000, according to Abu Dhabi Police on Saturday (April 8). The police force reminded drivers to park their cars properly if they want to attend prayers at mosques this Ramadan. Police have repeatedly warned motorists against leaving their vehicles in undesignated areas, which obstructs the flow of traffic. "Don't park your vehicle on the sidewalk and encroach on pedestrian areas. The road belongs to everyone, so avoid stopping halfway and blocking entrances," according to Abu Dhabi Police. Residents have raised concern about motorists parking on the road during prayer times, saying this causes traffic disruptions and traffic jams. ICA/Expat Media
