Police in the UAE have warned residents of scam websites that resemble government websites. According to Abu Dhabi Police, scammers are targeting victims with calls, emails, SMS or social media messages that direct them to these fake websites. The websites are used to get people’s sensitive personal or banking information, and subsequently allow scammers to withdraw funds from victims’ bank accounts. Abu Dhabi Police advised the public not to share confidential personal or banking information, including their bank account and banking passwords. Police reiterated that bank employees would never ask for such information. The Abu Dhabi Police called on the public to report any suspicious activity or fraud through the hotline 8002626 or through SMS to 2828. ICA/Expat Media
