UAE: Posting videos or photos of crimes is illegal

Posting videos or photos of crimes is illegal in the UAE, according to the UAE Attorney General. Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi said publishing such photos or videos constitute multiple crimes, especially if they show both the victims and the accused persons. A Shamsi said the video or photo includes offensive or disturbing images, and also accuse people of committing crimes before they are found guilty in the court. This could harm the interests of the state, affect public order and potentially compromise the investigations of these crimes, the UAE Attorney General added. He urged people who film, photograph or view such materials to report crimes instead and not to publish or circulate the materials without legal permission. ICA/Expat Media
