President Sheikh Mohamed has sent his condolences to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, following the passing of his mother. Heeraben Modi, 100, died in the early hours of Friday morning. Since Wednesday, she has been suffering from health issues and seeking treatment at a hospital in Ahmedabad, Gujarat's western state. Mr. Modi led a funeral procession in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on Friday. "I offer my deepest condolences to my dear friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the passing of his mother, Heeraben Modi," Sheikh Mohamed wrote on Twitter. "Our heartfelt sympathies are with him and his family during this difficult time." Sheikh Mohamed and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, conveyed condolence messages to Mr. Modi, according to the official news agency Wam. Mr. Modi, who had a special relationship with his mother, paid tribute to her on Twitter. Sheikh Mohamed and Mr. Modi met in June in Abu Dhabi to strengthen ties between their countries.
