UAE repatriation flights to India to resume on May 26

  DUBAI – Around 14,000 Indians in the UAE will fly home this week in the third phase of repatriation efforts. India has arranged 81 special flights from the UAE, with the first flight to leave for New Delhi from Abu Dhabi on Tuesday (May 26). The repatriation will run for two weeks from May 26 to June 8. According to the Indian Embassy, some 350,000 Indian expatriates applied for help to return home. There are 3.4 million Indians in the UAE. Passengers on the repatriation flights will be required to undergo a 14-day quarantine period in hotels. The cost of the ticket and quarantine are paid for by passengers. Vipul said many have also had second thoughts, with less than a third typically accepting their places on repatriation planes out of the UAE.

Indian consulate warns against scams

Meanwhile, the Indian Consulate in Dubai warned Indians against scammers offering bogus charter flights to India. Consulate officials said scammers have been targeting people who want to return home and asking them to pay in advance for the ticket and the cost of quarantine.
