Two sailors aboard a cargo ship near Sharjah received critical medical assistance following a rescue operation on Sunday (December 8). The incident occurred off Al Hamriyah Port, prompting an immediate response after an emergency alert. The UAE’s National Search and Rescue Centre and the Coast Guard Group swiftly reached the scene and transferred the injured sailors to the port, where first aid was administered. One individual was later transported to a hospital for further treatment. “This operation highlights the UAE’s commitment to maritime safety,” a National Guard official said. Authorities did not give further details on the circumstances surrounding the incident. “We urge all seafarers to follow safety protocols and report emergencies promptly by calling the marine line at 996,” the National Guard official said. The rescue follows a similar operation last month, where a critically ill fisherman was saved off Zirku Island, Abu Dhabi.
