Residency visa violators in the UAE will get a two-month grace period starting September 1, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) announced. "During this period, violators can regularize their status or leave the country without incurring fines," the ICP clarified in its announcement on X. The ICP reiterated that the government shall allow the violators to regularize their status according to the Federal Law on Entry and Residency of Foreigners. The grace period will run from September 1 to October 31. During this period, the ICP will waive fines and other penalties, enabling violators to adjust their status or leave the country with ease. The amnesty reflects the UAE's values of compassion and tolerance, giving residents a chance to comply with the law. Further details on the procedures of the grace period will be announced soon, according to the ICP. The UAE previously introduced a similar visa amnesty scheme in 2018, allowing many residents to regularize their status without financial penalties. FAR/Expat Media
