UAE residents eager to perform Umrah again

Worshippers in the UAE are eager to visit Saudi Arabia and perform Umrah after two years of COVID-19 restrictions. With Saudi Arabia's decision of lifting COVID-29 restrictions such as no more mandatory PCR tests and quarantine measures on arrival, the demand for Umrah increased for the coming days and the last 10 days of Ramadan. "I was longing to be there, as I used to travel annually to perform Umrah. Inshallah, I will be there in the last 10 days for Ramadan," said Umm Fahah, a 55-year-old Emirati. Fully vaccinated children with the minimum age of five years are allowed to enter the Grand Mosque in Makkah and Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah through the Umrahna and Tawakkalna applications. The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has issued more than 29.4 million permits to the Grand Mosque and another 3.7 million permits for the Prophet’s Mosque over the past seven months through the Eatamarna and Tawakkalna applications. Saudi authorities also stated that the social distancing measures in all mosques, open and closed places, activities, and events will be suspended but the wearing of masks will be implemented inside all indoor facilities. Al Bayaty, owner of Al Tawakul for Hajj and Umrah operators, has been preparing measures to face the issue of lack of hotel rooms in the Holy area with the pilgrims preferring to stay close to Kaaba and the Holy Mosque. His company is coordinating with the Saudi authorities for the best services of the pilgrims as well as itineraries for groups, families, and individuals including flights, hotel bookings, and transport from Jeddah to Makkah and Makkah to Madinah.
