UAE residents can look forward to a four- or five-day break for Eid Al Fitr 2025, marking the country’s first extended public holiday of the year. The exact duration of the break will depend on the moon sighting scheduled for March 29. Islamic months follow the lunar calendar, and Eid Al Fitr is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, which comes immediately after Ramadan.

How long will the UAE Eid holiday be?

If the crescent moon is spotted on March 29 (Ramadan 29), Ramadan will last 29 days, and the holiday will run from Sunday (March 30) to Tuesday (April 1), giving UAE residents a 4-day break that includes Saturday. If the moon is not sighted, Ramadan will complete 30 days, and the holiday will be from Sunday (March 30), to Wednesday (April 2), extending the break to five days. According to Dubai Astronomy Group, Ramadan is likely to last 30 days, meaning that Eid Al Fitr will fall on Monday, March 31, granting a five-day break when combined with the preceding weekend. The astronomy group has encouraged UAE residents to participate in the traditional practice of moon sighting. The official holiday confirmation will come from the UAE moon-sighting committee on March 29. ICA/Expat Media
