Men lure UAE drivers with fake flat tyre before robbing them

ABU DHABI – Police have warned bank customers and drivers to be extra cautious when carrying large amounts of money after several incidents of a new style of robbery in the capital. The warning came as Abu Dhabi Police last week arrested a three-member gang that stole the purses of female bank customers. According to police, the men waited for the victims to get in their vehicles before knocking on their window and saying that they have a flat tyre. As soon as the victims stepped out of the vehicle, one of the gang members would steal their purses. In some cases, the robbers would break the car’s windows to steal valuables in the vehicle. Police said that the suspects are Asians aged between 23 and 38. The suspects were arrested in Ajman. Investigations into the case are continuing. Earlier this month, Abu Dhabi Police also arrested four Asians for robbing an elderly man and an Arab woman in broad daylight.
