UAE rulers have pardoned a total of 6,170 prisoners across the country ahead of the 54th Eid Al Etihad, allowing thousands of inmates to reunite with their families during the national celebration. In Abu Dhabi, President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan ordered the release of 2,937 inmates and pledged to settle their financial penalties. Officials said the directive reflects the President’s commitment to giving inmates a chance at rehabilitation and relieving their families of financial and emotional burdens. In Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, ordered the release of 2,025 prisoners. Attorney General Chancellor Essam Issa Al Humaidan said Dubai Public Prosecution and Dubai Police have begun implementing the directive. In Ras Al Khaimah, Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi ordered the release of 854 inmates who had been convicted in various cases. His son, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, directed authorities to expedite the procedures in coordination with RAK Police. In Ajman, Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi ordered the release of 225 inmates selected for good conduct. The Ruler wished them a successful reintegration into society and said he hoped their return home would complete the joy of Eid Al Etihad. In Fujairah, Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi ordered the release of 129 inmates who were similarly chosen for good behaviour. Authorities said the gesture reflects the Ruler’s commitment to allowing inmates the opportunity to begin a new chapter in their lives. ICA/Expat Media
