UAE second safest country to live in

DUBAI - Nearly 100 percent of residents in the UAE feel safe here, making the country the world's second safest place, according to a new study. The Global Law and Order 2017 report by research firm Gallup showed that 96.8 percent of people feel safe and secure in the country. Singapore took the top spot in terms of personal security and experience with police. “UAE’s policies and strategies were behind the achievements to make the country one of the safest countries in the world,” said Lt General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chairman of Police and Public Security in Dubai. When it comes to average response time during emergencies, the UAE came in second place after New York City. The UAE has been using new technology, including Artificial Intelligence, in command rooms and police patrols to improve the response timing for emergencies and accidents, police said. About 4 percent of the population in the UAE still felt unsafe in the streets, and it has to do with areas where there are no lampposts or signs to identify locations of police stations, said Major General Dr Abdul Quddus Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidly, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Quality and Excellence. Al Obaidly said the UAE is working to address these issues and "enhance the people’s feeling of safety so the country become number one in the world in sense of safety”.
