The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), in coordination with the Abu Dhabi Registration and Licensing Authority (ADRA), has closed 11 domestic worker recruitment offices in Al Ain for operating illegally. The ministry said the offices were either unlicensed or using permits issued by authorities outside Abu Dhabi, in violation of the Domestic Workers Law and its executive regulations. MoHRE confirmed that it has imposed legal and administrative penalties, including fines, and referred the cases to the Public Prosecution for further action. In a statement, the ministry revealed that the closures followed public complaints, which included allegations that the offices failed to fulfil commitments to families and employers. MoHRE urged residents to ensure they are dealing only with licensed recruitment offices and provided a list of authorised agencies on its official website. It also encouraged customers to report any violations by calling 600590000 or the Labour Consultation Centre at 80084. “The ministry emphasises the importance of compliance with laws, transparency, and providing competitive services. Inspections will continue to ensure that violators are dealt with strictly,” according to MoHRE. Earlier this year, MoHRE announced that 40 recruitment offices across the UAE were penalised for 140 violations of the Domestic Workers Law during the first half of 2025. In partnership with the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority, the ministry also closed 77 unlicensed social media accounts that were illegally promoting domestic worker recruitment services.
