The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre (SZGMC) has extended the submission period for its annual “Spaces of Light” Photography Award to December 31, encouraging global photographers to capture the unique beauty and cultural heritage of mosques worldwide. The extended timeline provides photographers additional time to capture the mosque’s seasonal ambiance, aligning with the UAE’s “World’s Coolest Winter” initiative. Now in its eighth year, the competition is open to both professional and amateur photographers who are invited to explore four categories, including “Mosques and Masjids,” “Technical and General Photography,” “Digital Art,” and “Life at the Mosque.” The latter category offers subcategories of “Narratives,” “Time Lapse,” and “Video Clips.” With a prize pool of Dh850,000 for the top three winners in each category, the award celebrates creativity while promoting cultural exchange through the lens. This extension, SZGMC officials say, will offer photographers a chance to capture the essence of UAE’s architecture in diverse settings. For those interested in participating, guidelines and submission details are available on the SZGMC website. ICA/Expat Media
